I spent the past seven years tied to a desk.
And spent the past five weeks tied to my bed.
(Um, no, not what it sounds like.)
Sitting for hours at a time for years changed my body. Sometimes I didn’t getting up for 5 hours straight. Unwittingly taking years off my life.
In March I was laid off. Financially: interesting turn of events. Physically: freedom!!!!!!
So, I jumped back into exercise routine, stretching out those tight hammies and glutes with some yoga…
And I threw out my back at the end of March. Cancelled travel plans. Cancelled the exercise routine that was going to get me back into shape. Spent Easter in bed tripped out on pain killers. (“I can’t feel my face. My back still hurts, but now at least it’s funny.”)
If you’ve ever had back pain, then you know…your back is connected to every single thing you do…including breathing!
I am seeking out exercises to protect my lower back because that’s apparently something that you need to do in your mid-40s. I found this one which seems pretty good…and adequately cheesy. And maybe you’ll find this video useful, too.
Take it easy on yourselves, people. (Yes, I’m talking to you, Lallone.)
