Selling Yourself Short?

Almost three years ago to the day, I asked my son what I should do for Day 5 of a 100 day creative challenge. He said, “Draw sheep.” I cringed because I always believed myself to have had zero skill at drawing.

But, as a mom, I aim to please and be a good role model so I Googled “how to draw sheep” and something magical happened. I didn’t stink. I actually drew things that looked like sheep. (Exhibit A) It was as if the pen was moving itself.

Three years later, I am still in awe and in gratitude, and draw every day. So, sheep have a really special place in my heart.

Take this story for what it is on the surface: a simple tale of a late-blooming artist.

Or you might see it the way I do: what the freak else can we do if we try and maybe suspend belief for a hot minute?
